azi - Etymological Basque Dictionary-French-Spanish-English(XIVth c.) Grain, seed. From (h)az- "to grow up". Cp. paleosiberian kamchadal as "to grow up" (K. Bouda, Orbis, XXV, 2, 1976, 246). By the Ligurians, the rye was named asia. Perhaps also cognate with zi "point, tip" ?
(s. XIV) Grana, germen. De (h)az- "crecer". Cp. paleosiberiano kamchadal as "crecer" (K. Bouda, Orbis, XXV, 2, 1976, 246). Los Ligures llamaban asia el centeno. Acaso emparentado también con zi "punta" ?
(XIVe s.) Grain, germe. De (h)az- "croître". Cp. paleosiberien kamtchadal as "croître" (K. Bouda, Orbis, XXV, 2, 1976, 246). Les Ligures nommaient le seigle asia. Peut-être apparenté également à zi "pointe" ?
