(s. XVII, Oih.) Trabajo, ocupación, materia. De e- para egin "hacer" y gai "materia".
(XVIIe s., Oih.) Travail, occupation, matière. De e- pour egin "faire" et gai "matière".

Storm. From eki "sun" and gaitz "bad" or apheresis of negu "winter" + gaitz. Cf. nekhaitz.
