(IVth c., esquero) Left. Pre-latin word. Cf. gasc. esquèr "id.", sp. izquierda "id.". Perhaps cognate with esku "hand"(right hand). From *esku-oker "distorted hand"(?).
(s.IV, esquero) Izquierda. Palabra pre-latina. Cf. gasc. esquèr "id.". Acaso emparentada con esku "mano (derecha)". De *esku-oker "mano torcida"(?).
(IVe s., esquero) Gauche. Terme pré-latin pyrénéen. cf. gasc. esquèr "id.", esp. izquierda "id.". Peut-être apparenté à esku "main (droite)". De *esku-oker "main tordue"(?).
