(Zang, 2006: 402), kiranti dumi khe "toux", inuit eke "feu", hokan chimariko qhe "fumée" (Jany, 2009: 19, 23), Jacques Cartier 1545 glossaire amérindien que "fumée". Terme prédictible iconique, phonosémantique (harmonie imitative). Il est extrêmement ancien et d’origine expressive (la toux est provoquée par la fumée). Cette remarquable parenté proto-eurasienne indubitable prouve que l’expressivité est loin d’être un obstacle à la comparaison des langues et confirme l’origine proto-eurasienne des Amérindiens.
