albeit : bien que
Voici un mot presque toujours mal prononcé par les francophones. Il se prononce [al bi: it] (avec al comme dans Al Capone). Les francophones néophytes en anglais, pensant sans doute qu'il s'agit d' un mot d'origine allemande, essaient de le prononcer comme l'allemand Arbeit.
Etymologie :
4e s. contraction de al[though] be it (bien que ce soit).
Synonymes : although, even though; notwithstanding.
Il semble que le mot soit fréquent dans les critiques de films.
Exemple : It was a good movie, albeit a sad one (C'etait un bon film, bien que triste.) |

Effectivement c'est une curiosité. Sur wiktionary en anglais il est mentionné un pluriel : 'albethey'. |

L'Oxford English Dictionary mentionne un passé, qui n'est plus usité : all were it. Were s'explique par le subjonctif. |
