Elle pourrait être à l’origine du nom de la grande tribu aquitaine des Auscii, qui a donné son nom à Auch (département du Gers), et à l’origine du nom de l’euskara (langue basque) et des Euskariens (Euskaldunak), c’est-à-dire des Basques. L’évolution de a- à e- est tout à fait classique.
