(1571) Little dog, dog. Variants zakur, txakur. The word was compared with sardinian/corsican giagaru "hound". Another possiblity might be i.-e. *k’ekur, old indian shakura "tamed, domesticated". The hispanic word cachorro "little dog" was also proposed but it would need a metathesis.

Une autre piste possible serait l’indo-européen *k’ekur, vieil-indien shakura "dompté, domestiqué". On a proposé aussi l’hispanique cachorro "petit chien" mais cela supposerait une métathèse.
