(XVIth c.) Sign, wink, hint, conjecture. It has been proposed a borrowing from gascon pagère "measure" (from lat. pagella). Not very convincing. Cf. perhaps aiduru.
(s. XVI) Seña, guiño, indicio. Se ha sugerido que viene del gascón pagère (del lat. pagella). Dudoso. Cf. acaso aiduru.
(XVIe s.) Signe, clin d’oeil, indice, conjecture. On a proposé comme origine un emprunt au gascon pagère "mesure" (du lat. pagella). Ce n’est pas très convaincant. Cf. peut-être aiduru.
