(LN, S) Active. Harriet compared the word with benaz "seriously", but it is not convincing. P. Lhande presumes a roman borrowing from spanish velar "to watch", what is much better. As the dialects involved are BN, S, one will prefer the gascon bèlhe "watch".
(BN, S) Activo. Harriet ha comparado la palabra con benaz "seriosamente", lo que no es convincente. P. Lhande supone un prestamo romance y cita el cast. velar, lo que es muy mejor. Dado la localisación dialectal (BN, S), es preferible el gascón bèlhe "vigila".
(BN, S) Actif, alerte. Harriet rapprochait ce terme de benaz "sérieusement", ce qui n’est pas convaincant. P. Lhande suppose un emprunt roman et cite l’espagnol velar "veiller" ce qui est bien meilleur. Vu la localisation dialectale en BN, S, on préférera le gascon bèlhe "veille".
