(XVIIe s., Oih.) Force, vigueur, valeur. De bihotz "coeur" et un "bon" ou à la rigueur de bizi-dun "vif, alerte". On ne voit pas de rapport sémantique avec bigun "mou, sensible" (sauf par antiphrase) mais un détour par bihun "compatissant" confirme l’étymologie à partir de bihotz-un "bon coeur".
