epher
Partridge (Zool.). In spite of the appearence, this word is not cognate with lat. perdix "id.". It comes from a stem *per-/par-/pur- "back" like its var. eperdi "id." and its der. eperdikara "waterthrush, wagtail". It is cognate with ipurdi "back, arse". A cognacy with the latin word might only be possible at a very remote eurasian level with the same stem *i>per-d, pur-d "back, arse".
Perdiz (Zool.).

epherzuri
(L) Hazel grouse (Zool.). From epher "partridge" and zuri "white".
(L) Grévol, bonasa (Zool.). De epher "perdiz" y zuri "blanca".
(L) Gélinotte des bois (Zool.). De epher "perdrix" et zuri "blanche".
