Neck, mountain pass. Probably from pre-indoeuropean proto-eurasian *tep(o). Cp. corsican teppa "slope", occ. tepa, tepo "clod", sp. tepe "id.", albanian tép "summit", turkish tep(e) "hill" (Göbekli Tepe, Gaziantep, etc.), georgian t’aw "head", old-egyptian tp "head", nahuatl tepe-tl "mountain", nicaraguayan tepe "id.", venezuelian tepuy "highland", salish halkomelem tep-s "neck" (Galloway, 2009: 259, 664), abenaki deb "head". With kuk, cf. Kukteppa in Tajikistan. For the evolution t > l in basque, cf. teka "pod" > leka "id.", tepel "lukewarm" > *lepel > epel "id.".
Cuello, puerto. Probablemente del pre-indoeuropeo proto-eurasiano *tep(o). Cp. occ. tepa, tepo "terrón", cast. tepe "id.", albanés tép, turco tep(e) "colina" (Göbekli Tepe, Gaziantep, etc.), georgiano t’aw "cabeza", egipcio antiguo tp "jefe", nahuatl tepe-tl "montaña", nicaragüense tepe "id.", venezueliano tepuy "meseta", salish halkomelem tep-s "cuelo" (Galloway, 2009: 259, 664), abenaki deb "cabeza". Con kuk, cf. Kukteppa en Tadjikistan. Para la evolución t > l en vasco, cf. teka "vaina" > leka "id.", tepel "tibio" > *lepel > epel "id.".

En combinaison avec kuk, cf. Kukteppa au Tadjikistan. Pour le passage de t à l en basque, cp. teka "gousse" > leka "id.", tepel "tiède" > *lepel > epel "id.".
