ibai
Lakarra *hur-ban-i no esta convincente.
(1284) River. From bai (cf. Baigorri, Bayonne). The form Baigorri is attested since the aquitanian time (Baigorrixo Deo). The too complicate reconstruction of J.A. Lakarra *hur-ban-i is not convincing at all. The segment hur- cannot become i-. It would seem that ibai may be posterior to bai, perhaps under the influence of words like ibar "valley" or ibi "ford".

ibaiadar
Affluent. De ibai "fleuve, rivière" et adar "branche".
Afluente, tributario. De ibai "río" y adar "rama".
Tributary. From ibai "river" and adar "branch".

ibar
Valley, dale. From *ib-. Cp. also with the river Ibar in Serbia and Montenegro. It seems that there are also Bar in the sardinian toponymy. In Germany Iba near Rotenburg an der Fulda, Ibra near Bad Hersfeld. Theo Vennemann thinks, like me, that the german names with Eber cannot always mean "wildboar". It is clear that names like Ibrach or Ebrach are coming from a root *ib- ou *eb- "water" (but cf. Eberbach where Eber "wildboar" is not excluded). However he forgets that this does not fit to Evreux (from the gaulish tribe Eburovices) or Ebreuil, Evry etc., all coming from gaulish eburo "yew". Cf. also Ibisa in 979 > Ybbs a tributary of the Danube, Ibenbach a tributary of the Dreisam in Baden-Württemberg. In England Ivel.

ibeni
Mis, posé. Du proto-basque *ben "mettre, poser". Terme apparenté au kartvèle (géorgien) pen, pin "id.", vogoul pin "id.", samoyède pin "id.". Cf. ipini.

(Xth c.) Forth. From *ib- "water". Cf. also ibar. A contracted form of *ibi-bide or an apocope of *ibide is not impossible. Cf. Ibos (Hautes-Pyrénées), Ibie (Ardèche), river Ibias (Asturies), Ivel (Bretagne), Ivoire (Alpes), Ibra (Germany), Ybbs (Austria).

ira
Fern (Bot.). Attested in the toponymy. Var. iratze. This short basic form ira proves that iratze is not a borrowing from gaulish ratis as it was written sometimes. The final segment -tze is a suffix for vegetals. Moreover the borrowing would have given in basque a form *irratiz or *erratiz with reduplication of /r/ and a prothetic vowel following the phonetic rules of basque.

iratze
(958) Fern (Bot.). From ira and suff. of vegetals -tze. It is not a borrowing from gaulish ratis "id." as it has been written many times. A borrowing from gaulish would have given in basque *irratiz or *erratiz with vocalic prothesis and obligatory reduplication of the vibrant following the basque phonetic rule.
